Activity Overview
Psoriasis is associated with considerable physical and emotional hardship. Both the disease and comorbidities that frequently occur with it place a large burden on patients. This activity presents a discussion between experts in psoriasis care and a patient with long-standing psoriatic disease and focuses on the psychosocial aspects of disease and on ways that a team approach can be used to better manage psoriasis treatment.

Target Audience
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of dermatologists, dermatology residents and fellows, dermatology nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other health care professionals involved in the care of patients with moderate to severe psoriasis.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the psychosocial effects of psoriasis on patients
  • Formulate a plan for educating patients and other health care providers about the cardiovascular comorbidities associated with psoriasis
  • Integrate a team approach to managing patients with psoriasis

Accreditation

The University of Chicago is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Dermatology Nurses’ Association (DNA) is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Method of Participation
There are no fees for participating in this CME/CE activity. To receive credit during the period October 2010 to October 31, 2011, participants must (1) read the learning objectives and disclosure statements, (2) study the educational activity, and (3) complete the postsurvey and activity evaluation, including the certificate information section.
